Falcon Nest
Renovation
Details
The home was in its original, deteriorated condition and required a complete strip-down to the studs, including full replacement of plumbing, wiring, and insulation.
Due to strata restrictions, exterior changes were limited to new matching windows, while the interior was fully redesigned.
The renovation required major structural modifications, including the installation of steel components and new beams to support the revised layout.
Mouldy, ineffective insulation was removed, allowing for a high-performance rebuild with a fully sealed building envelope, triple-pane windows, heat recovery ventilator (HRV), air source heat pump, electric underfloor heating, and an electric heat pump water heater.
These upgrades resulted in an impressive 54 GJ/year in energy consumption, far outperforming the typical 87 GJ/year benchmark for a new code-built home.
The completed home now stands as a modern, energy-efficient mountain retreat, blending craftsmanship, performance, and comfort.
